This initial phase includes 216 new homes, with 175 of these due to be affordable.
In total there are up to 750 news homes containing at least 342 affordable homes due to be built in total at Ebury.
Cllr Rachael Robathan, Westminster City Council cabinet member for finance, property and regeneration, said: “At Ebury we are providing brand new affordable homes right in the heart of London.
“We have also committed to keeping the strong Ebury Bridge community together and all secure tenants and resident leaseholders will have the opportunity to move straight in to their new homes”
The construction market will shortly be invited to tender for phase one, with a planning application due to be submitted later this year.
Ebury is located in the South-West of the borough, close to Victoria Station. Railway tracks to Victoria act as a physical barrier to the East of the estate and the Belgravia neighbourhood is to the West. The estate has excellent connectivity and offers a tremendous opportunity for a prestigious, exemplar estate renewal opportunity in Central London.
The council has made significant investment over recent years developing a high quality, exciting scheme in consultation with local residents and approved the full demolition and re-provision of the estate in July 2018.
Built in the 1930s, Ebury Bridge is one of Westminster’s oldest council estates. In 2017, the council made a commitment to Ebury Bridge residents that a new renewal solution would be worked up following challenges with a previously consented scheme.
Westminster City Council is committed to the most ambitious house building programme for a generation. The Council is on track to deliver 1,850 new affordable homes by 2023 with sites for a further potential 2,000 new homes identified.
